Right after the release of the new IS (current generation), I found this shopped picture of it since Lexus posted on Facebook saying something like Bringing back the Sportwagon.

Actually I googled IS F Sport Wagon for this picture and it turns out it's the post I wrote on Oppositelock back when I first saw it and Lexus never built it. -cries again-

Lots of manufacturers need to make station wagons again. Very useful, lower center of gravity, more control, actual family hauler that's fun to drive!

This is my wife's DD. We will have to keep it forever, no way I can fit in that tiny thing they call the Golf XL or Jetta or whatever. Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes wagons are cool but way out of my price range. Outback/Forester not comfortable for me.

My parent use an armored one as their spare car, I love them, some people say they are boring but I disagree. Passats are great cars.

An armored Passat? Need to know more about this car!

I don't think it's boring at all. It's a 2.0 Turbo, 6 spd manual. It's not the fastest car on the road but it's pretty quick when you spool it up and fun to drive. It's very well balanced and handles predictably. It's also great on gas even at high speeds if you drive it right. Very stable at autobahn speeds. Onramps in 3rd gear are really fun, it's got fantastic practical acceleration if you let it rev.

Lexus needs to make wagons. GM needs to make wagons. Ford makes the Flex, close enough. Honda? Nope. Toyota? Nope. They've got everyone scared into SUV/CUV/AWD land now. You are basically buying a "Performance Car" or an SUV/CUV/Minivan.

It's true there's no new CTS or (fingers crossed) ATS wagon yet. But then again with the last generation of CTS they didn't launch the wagon till the car was a year into production, so I'm just going to pretend they're working on it and keep saying they make wagons in present tense. I BELLLLIEEEVVVE IN YOU, CADDY!
